The primary purpose of the club nowadays is the organising and running of the NSCC Speed Championship for sprinting and hillclimbing. Sprinting and hillclimbing for the uninitiated is a form of motorsport run on tarmac surfaces in a variety of cars, ranging from standard saloons to out and out ex-F1 based single seaters. There are many events run each year on both dedicated and multi-use tracks. It is a very friendly branch of motorsport suitable for the novice competitor and seasoned veteran alike.

This web site gives details of the NSCC championship, the regulations and the results.

Championship Scoring for 2009

The placings will be decided on the best eight scores from 17 rounds, held at 12 different venues. We are aiming to get more members together at a lesser number of events and have removed the far flung venues as these were not so well supported last year for various reasons.

The venues, include Harewood, Thoresby park, Aintree, Loton Park, Curborough, and MIRA, as well as those mentioned above.

The club itself will promote six of the above events and in addition to the top 10 places, the Des Richardson trophy will be presented to the highest scorer from four of the six NSCC run events, (excluding the top three contenders in the overall Championship).

An award - the Harry Driver Trophy is given to the fastest member over all rounds best 8 scores. There is also a trophy for highest placed novice, highest placed Lady and the famous ‘wonky trophy’ award for the best 'incident' of the year and voted for by the members of the NSCC!

The scoring system is the same as 2006 to remove any ‘easy classes’ with soft targets. The system is designed to be independant of the number of competitors in a class, or the weather conditions. These target times are the current class records for each class – so its easy to see how well you are doing against not just other NSCC members but the best drivers in the country!. The full scoring system is explained inside, but basically, if you achieve the record time, you gain 20 points. This way any car from any class can compete against others. We even cater for if the event is wet!
We hope you will join in the fun, registration is free with NSCC membership
